Third party supply chain & logistics
What Is a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Company?
A third-party logistics company (3PL) acts as an intermediary between large organizations and their logistics needs. For example, companies may partner with national 3PL providers that engage regional service partners—known as agents—to handle operations in specific areas. CD&L serves as an agent in regions throughout the Carolinas.
Inbound & Outbound Freight Services
3PL operations typically involve two types of freight:
- Inbound Freight: When a facility needs a part urgently from another location—CD&L coordinates pickup, flight tracking, and final delivery to ensure minimal downtime.
- Outbound Freight: We also manage shipments from local facilities to other destinations, whether it’s a small package or a full pallet. Delivery distances can range from a few miles to several hours, depending on the location.
24/7 Availability & Real-Time Tracking
Our logistics services operate around the clock. Whether it’s 3 a.m. on a Tuesday or Sunday afternoon, we’re ready to respond. We provide real-time tracking and updates on pickups, delays, and deliveries to ensure transparency and reliability.
Specialized Logistics Capabilities
CD&L supports a range of specialized logistics needs, including:
- AOG (Aircraft on Ground): Urgent parts delivery for grounded aircraft.
- Last-Mile Delivery: Final leg of delivery to the end destination.
- Expedited Freight: Time-sensitive shipments.
- Critical Parts & Temporary Storage: Secure warehousing for items awaiting further instructions.
Certified Indirect Air Carrier (IAC)
CD&L is a TSA-certified Indirect Air Carrier (IAC), authorized to transport freight via commercial airlines. This credential requires annual renewal and strict compliance with TSA regulations. Our certification allows us to begin work immediately with 3PL partners, reducing onboarding time and administrative overhead.
